My Vows to Chris

You are like a piece of music I love so much that I want to learn its every note, every chord, every harmony.

 

I love the devotion and respect that you show towards your family and your history.  The way you talk about your loved ones, and more important your actions, speak volumes about your values and the strength of your character.

 

I love your thoughtful curiosity about the world, and your kindness and generosity when you witness an unmet need.  Your joyful willingness in learning about my own heritage has been nothing short of remarkable.

 

As I get to know these integral notes that compose the song of you, I realize, to my immense happiness, that you, too, are learning me as though I am a piece of music that you want to play by heart.  

 

And from the very beginning, you have been able to strike just the right notes and chords in my intellect, emotions, and imagination, and together, we can create a song that is vastly more beautiful and rich than anything we could create on our own or with anyone else.

 

Today I promise you that for the rest of my life, I will strengthen your notes when they are weak; I will complete your chords when they are incomplete, and together we can create harmonies that will not only enhance our own song, but the songs of those around us.
